Once again, Stocker Hoesterey Montenegro Architects is sending a team to the annual Dallas CANstruction event benefiting the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). We will be competing in the design-build food drive, creating a giant structure made entirely from cans of food. The structure will then be on display September 25 through October 18 at the State Fair of Texas.
Our design “A Diverse CANvas. One Lone Star” won an Honorable Mention last year, and we were one of only five teams to receive an award! The design used a total of 6,076 cans and took 12 hours to construct.
In the state of Texas, 4.8 million people are still food insecure—that’s 1 in every 6 Texans. The NTFB leads the fight against hunger through the distribution of donated, purchased, and prepared foods with a network of programs in 13 North Texas Counties. Last year’s CANstruction event amassed 112,000 cans for of food for NTFB, which provided over 114,600 meals!
We are asking for your assistance as a team sponsor—your support of this worthy cause will make a direct impact in the fight against hunger. All food items on display are donated to the North Texas Food Bank. Our goal this year is to raise $7,000 to purchase food and construction materials to use in our structure. Please consider donating at the $100, $250, or $500 level. CANstruction isn’t just a charity, it’s an event that draws crowds at the State Fair of Texas, makes headlines in the media, and offers a unique marketing opportunity. By donating to our team, you or your organization will be able to enjoy excellent exposure by appearing as a sponsor on our structure’s sign at the State Fair, which is attended by about 3 million peopl1e each year. SHM has to let CANstruction know who will be on our sign by this Friday, August 21, so if you can commit to contributing, please email our CANstruction Team Captain, Jenna Janson, at firstname.lastname@example.org. On top of all of the previously mentioned benefits of the CANstruction event, your donation is also tax deductible.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the design and construction community to make a real difference in the world through a creative experience. If you are willing to support the efforts of our firm and the North Texas Food Bank, please send a check payable to Stocker Hoesterey Montenegro Architects with “CANstruction” in the memo line. We will follow up with a donation receipt letter from the North Texas Food Bank for your tax records. Thank you in advance for your generosity. We are grateful for your support and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
