Courtney was born in Michigan and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. A 7th grade art class outing to sketch the historic facades in downtown Louisville is what Courtney recalls as being the first experience opening her up to a career in architecture. Various travels to architectural landmarks throughout Europe as well as Habitat and community building centered mission trips strengthened her interest throughout grade school.
Courtney attended the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and graduated in 2014 with a Masters in Architecture and a minor in Urban Studies. Multiple internships of various specialties including, historic preservation, hospitality, and entertainment, led Courtney to find her passion for residential design. While working in New York City at a high-end residential design firm with a niche market in Passive House design Courtney became a Certified Passive House Designer as well as a licensed architect.
Outside of architecture Courtney travels as often as she can to visit family and explore new places, most recently participating in international mission trips in Zimbabwe and Guatemala and visiting friends in Atlanta, Seattle, and Berlin. She also enjoys camping, reading, and all things DIY.
